GOOLPASHEN | An Ancient Assyrian Instrumental Metal Soundtrack

Updated: Aug 14

How deep are your roots? Ever since I can remember I’ve always been fascinated with the Middle East, especially the ancient Egyptian culture. As I’ve learned more about my family history through the writings of my great grandmother…I’ve been drawn in closer to my Assyrian heritage. If my great grandfather had not escaped the horrors of the Assyrian genocide, I would not be here today. This EP is a soundtrack to my inner interpretation of that time, blending metal with eastern instruments. “Goolpashen” was an Assyrian Christian town at the western shore of Lake Urmia, a Persian term meaning “the scattering of the roses” This EP contains no drum editing or sound replacement, to deliver a pure authentic sound of the instruments. I had grown a bit tired of the same over processed sounding metal productions and wanted to let the instruments just breathe and be what they truly are. Thanks to my good friend Jorden Mitev, drummer of the band SIGLOS for absolutely crushing the drums on these songs. “Goolpashen” is streamable worldwide and Digipack CDs are available through my online store. Thank you for reading and listening 𓋹
